Who was Responsible?
The assassination of Martin Luther King jr. took place on April 4, 1968. Martin Luther King jr. was only 39. The fugative who assassinated him was named James Earl Ray. After a 2 month international manhunt, he was captured at London's Heathrow Airport. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 99 years in prison. He later attempted to escape from prison, adding another year to his 99 year sentence.
Immediately the shooting, King was taken to a near by hospital. After emergency surgery failed, king was pronounced dead at 7:05 pm.
